How many hours am I required to work?
You are expected to work your contracted hours but the timing can be flexible. You should check emails and Google classroom regularly and be present according to your online timetable.
I am not comfortable with teaching a live video lesson, what do I do during the timetabled lesson?
You need to be on Google classroom during the lesson in order to answer any questions throught the chat facility.
Can I record a lesson and share it instead of holding a live lesson?
Yes. You can post the link to the video in your classroom.
What happens if I am unable to teach the lesson? Can someone else teach it?
Yes, you can invite another teacher to join your class. You should also let the relevant headteacher and DoL know just as you would for a cover lesson.
How will the students submit their work?
This will depend on you. You can use either Google classroom or SMHW.
How often am I supposed to mark work?
You can use a combination of whole class feedback and peer marking as well as marking individual work. It will be appropriate to do more individual marking of Y12 work than of Y7. Please see the guidance on marking which will be produced at the beginning of next term.
Can we team-teach a live lesson?
Yes, instructions will be given during the training week
What happens if I am concerned about the attendance of a child in my online lesson?
You should report to the Year Leader and the relevant DoL. If the attendance is protacted and you are concerned, please put on CPOMs. You should also let parents know either by email or via Bromcom
What happens if I am concerned about the welfare of a child in my online lesson?
You must report this on CPOMs.
What happens if my internet crashes/have technical issues in the middle of a live lesson?
Try to rearrange the lesson at a time everyone can make.
How can I record attendance and grades on Google classroom?
You can use the chat facility to check who is present. Grades are saved in the assessment/ grade section. More training will be given on this.
What do I do if a student misbehaves or does something inappropriate during a live lesson?
You can remove students from the lesson. Please record on Bromcom so parents are informed.
How can I reward good work/ effort?
Remember to praise students as well and give lots of positives, using either Bromcom or emailing home.
