ECT induction program with UCL (2 years)
All recently qualified teachers will have the government mandated 2-year induction period, when they are Early Career Teachers. This program runs through UCL and our induction partner Best Practice Network. It is a compulsory program for ECT’s for their first two years. It offers the following:
- Timetable limits in the first and second year
- Sessions with the Best Practice Network to develop teaching practice
- Theories and Reading
- Assessments to establish development of practice
- An in department mentor who also has training to help develop you practice

Training and mentoring from staff in school (1 year – 2 years)
The school offers a bespoke mentoring system where an established member of department is your mentor, external to your department and different to your ECT mentor. This mentoring relationship allows for development of practice outside of the learning area and the development of practice from more than one ‘mentor’ as well as someone experienced to help settle new to teaching, teachers, into the school.
